Colonel Timothy D. Ringgold, PhD formed Defense Solutions upon his retirement after thirty years of service in the US Army.

COL Ringgold is a proven senior leader with a consistent record of upward progression throughout a distinguished military and corporate career; a highly skilled international business manager who closes deals and a program advocate who successfully achieves support for policy authorization and appropriations issues. As the Defense Solutions Chief Executive Officer, he is an exceptionally successful team builder who assembles winning coalitions from diverse constituencies.

Immediately after the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the Bush Administration called on COL Ringgold’s widely recognized interagency skills, political acumen, and national security expertise to write the 2002 White House study on Critical Infrastructure Protection (Classified). In this capacity, COL Ringgold helped influence national priorities in the aftermath of the 911 terrorist attacks.

COL Ringgold is a prolific writer and poised public speaker who can communicate effectively with wide ranging audiences - and win their support. He is called on frequently as a guest speaker and panelist on Homeland Security, Defense transformation and military policy issues and is a frequent commentator on CNBC, Fox, and CNN television networks.

COL Ringgold began his Army career as an Airborne Ranger company infantry private. He later commanded combat arms troops overseas and in the United States through the brigade level and culminated seven years in the Pentagon as Deputy Assistant Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

As the Defense Solutions business leader, COL Ringgold deals effectively with complex individuals and organizations. His extensive policy making, analysis, and advocacy experience and expert knowledge of political processes gained from service with the Congress, the Pentagon, and the White House, allow him to identify market opportunities, gain access to the decision maker, present a compelling case and close the deal.

COL Ringgold's civilian education includes a Bachelor’s degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Economics from Temple University, an M.A. in Legislative Affairs and a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Public Policy (National Security Policy) from the George Washington University and the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics from LaSalle University. He is also a graduate of both the US Army Command and General Staff College and the US Army War College.

COL Ringgold’s military decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit and numerous other awards. At his Army retirement just 6 weeks before September 11, 2001, then-Colonel Ringgold was honored with a citation for distinguished public service from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and awarded the Pennsylvania Meritorious Service Medal by then-Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge.

COL Ringgold is the Eastern Pennsylvania President for the Association of the United States Army, a chapter President for the Military Officers Association of America, and a member of the Executive Committee for the National Defense Industrial Association's Special Operations/Low Intensity Conflict division and for the Small Business division.
