Lew Wilson served twenty-eight years with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, rising through the ranks to Chief of Strategic Investigations and Special Agent-in-Charge. FDLE is the State's primary law enforcement agency and also operates the Florida's crime laboratory system, the Crime Information Center, and provides staff support for the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission.

As Special Agent-in-Charge, Lew was the principal planner for security at the 1997 National Republican Governors' Conference where he received a personal commendation from Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating. Lew also served as Assistant Director of Security for part of the 1996 Summer Olympics; Operations Commander for the 1987 visit of Pope John Paul II to Miami and his subsequent meeting with President Ronald Reagan; and Operations Commander for the 1986 Southern Governors' Conference.

Earlier, Lew led the planning, training, and implementation of FDLE's first Special Response Team and was the Incident Commander when the Team was deployed. In this role, Lew worked with the security staff at the Turnkey Point Nuclear Power plant.

An FBI Academy graduate, Lew is active with a number of law enforcement professional associations including the International Associations of Chiefs of Police, the International Police Association, the FBI Academy Associates, and the Florida Special Agents' Association.
