Vehicle Repair and Rebuild
Defense Solutions has a wide array of capabilities in the repair and rebuild of vehicles. Some of the capabilities are listed below.
Armored Vehicles
Defense Solutions takes a basic vehicle and modifies it to the specifications of the customer. This includes armoring, mounting of run-flat tires, installation of a GPS system, embrasures, document transfer for identification, markings, heated mirrors and rear vision television. Other modifications include installation of ventilators, bullet proof windows, reinforcement and armoring of the doors, the covering of windows with plastic layer, development of emergency escapes, and installation of intercom system and automatic or manual fire- suppression systems.
Vehicle and Equipment Repair & Overhaul
Defense Solutions repairs and overhauls main battle tanks, armored personnel carriers, infantry fighting vehicles, self-propelled howitzers, and other vehicles including military trucks, electrical generator sets, airport fire-fighting vehicles, mobile water tank vehicles and trailers, trench excavators, and baggers. The rebuilt vehicles and equipment include the latest technology and conform to safety standards and environmental emission requirements.
Overhaul of Tanks and Other Armored Vehicles
Replacement parts are either produced at on-site workshops or purchased from Hungary or other countries, mainly from Eastern European companies with which Defense Solutions has developed long-term business relationships. As a result of these activities the company stocks a substantial quantity and a wide range of spare parts.
In addition to newly manufactured parts, Defense Solutions can overhaul major components to meet or exceed original equipment manufacturers’ specifications. With its current workforce, Defense Solutions is capable of performing 200 general tank overhauls per year, and efforts are underway to double this capacity.
Design and Engineering
In addition to the repair and maintenance of military vehicles, Defense Solutions possesses an extensive design, development and manufacturing engineering capability to support its rebuild operations and the design and testing of new military equipment.
Test Benches and Equipment
Defense Solutions’ facilities have many dedicated workbenches. Testing and breaking-in of overhauled engines is performed on our SCHENK-type water brake test beds. Special test benches, designed and manufactured by our in-house engineering staff are used in the testing, run-in and regulation of every repaired intermediate gear box, main clutch, gear box, steering mechanism and final drive. Defense Solutions also has specialized test stands to evaluate, adjust, control and regulate gun stabilizer systems as well as mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and electrical parts.
Controlling and adjusting the electro-optical parts of the night vision instruments, including the high voltage supply units, present particular challenges that we accomplish through the use of special collimators.
Upgrading and Modifications
Defense Solutions is experienced in improving the reliability of fighting vehicles. This is accomplished through the design of new products (e.g., diagnostic equipment, special maintenance and repair tools and devices for use in mobile workshops); the development of new repair and maintenance technologies; the improvement of existing repair and manufacturing technologies; and improvements in the quality assurance process.
Reactive Armor
The reactive armor developed in cooperation with Hungarian defense industry companies decreases the penetration of shaped-charge ammunition by 60-70 percent.
Field Repair Operations
Defense Solutions has workshop equipment and special tools for the field repair of tanks, other armored vehicles and trucks, their engines, transmission and other units and systems. This includes diagnostic equipment, special maintenance and repair tools and devices for use in mobile workshops.
